Pedro Aguirre Cerda was born in February 6th in Pocuro he was a lawyer, a teacher and a politician, who was also president.
For me Cerda it's one of the greatest chileans because he cause so much impact in how we understand education this days, and it's really easy to see his desire to let people know that education was the to key to make the grade back then just with his iconic government slogan "gobernar es educar" wich can be translated as "to govern is to educate". And also with his work on education and poverty issues, because he belived that those 2 topic were relevant to succeed as a country.
As I say before Pedro was really relevant speaking of education since he created thousands of schools, made more relevant the institutions related to industry and agriculture and also created a lot of national companies in his quest to nationalize the resources. One of his biggest success that it's relevant until today is the creation of CORFO, that it's basically a help to people who wanted to start a business that would help the country production.
If I have the pleasure of meeting I would ask him for advice of how can we as a country make an improvement on our educational system since i'm very interested in this topic, and because even with the advancement that time gave us, we still not getting it right so I think we need to draw on his work on education.
I'm gonna let you with this beautiful quote (wich is in spanish) of his presidential speech in 1939:
(Cerda, 1939).
